Yoga Training Programs

Now online!

Description:

In our unique 200 hour teacher training and advanced studies programs, students will be challenged to find their voice by exploring their own wounds and passions through deep self-inquiry. This training is designed to meet each student exactly where they are at, to challenge typical ways of thinking, to integrate social justice and inclusivity into the conversation and ultimately empower each student to practice, live, and teach from a place of discernment, knowledge, compassion and authenticity.

The Empowered Yoga Teacher Training™ is trauma and justice-informed, body affirming, and invites students on a journey through both the ancient, traditional practices of yoga and modern neuroscience and psychology. Our programs are led by a diverse group of teachers with various yoga backgrounds, identies, and lived experiences. Students will walk away from this training with the necessary foundations to begin teaching asana and further their journey into turning their passion and purpose into action.

About Jamie:

I'm Jamie Hanson. I have a B.S. in Psychology, a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction in the area of Social Studies, and am a Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher with more than a decade of experience. I believe both yoga and Ayurveda are amazing tools to build resilience, preparing students to engage in their lives with more compassion and truth.

As the founder and lead teacher of the Empowered Yoga Teacher Training™, I have trained over 100 yoga teachers through a trauma and justice informed lens. My curriculum includes the intersection of yoga and social justice because one cannot be truly trauma-informed without an understanding of both historical and current systemic injustice and collective trauma. Because I have a Masters of Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and as a former high school teacher I have over a decade of experience writing, refining, and implementing effective curriculum.

I am an Experienced-Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 500), a Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher (RPYT) and a Yoga Alliance Certified Education Provider (YACAP). I have been a teacher in some form for most of my adult life—I love teaching and believe it is my dharma. The thing I am most passionate about is bridging yoga and social justice and this is why I am so excited to invite you to join me for this transformational teacher training.

One of my biggest inspirations for how I teach (and live) is Off the Mat, Into the World® and all of the people I have met through the organization. I believe that yoga is revolutionary practice. It offers us tools of resilience so that we may better cope with the complexity of life, stay engaged in the dismantling of systemic oppression, face what is most uncomfortable, and become sustainable in any service that one chooses to do and that a consistent yoga practice leads to more empathy, compassion and a wider world perspective.
